Luton |
The runway at Luton is equipped for CAT 2/3 operations. ATC low visibility
procedures become effective when:
- IRVR is less than 600 metres
- Cloud ceiling is 200ft or less
When LVP's are in force, pilots can expect that the ILS localiser and glidepath signal are fully protected. (This means that CAT 2/3 holding points must be used on the ground). Pilots should be informed when LVP's start and end.
Final Approach Spacing
During LVP's, the minimum spacing used must be 10nm. This is to ensure that aircraft have received a landing clearance by 2nm from touchdown, exceptionally 1nm from touchdown. A 12 to 15nm gap will be required to allow for 1 departure. During LVP's, aircraft require to establish on the localiser at an early stage, therefore, aircraft must be vectored to intercept the localiser at a range of not less than 10nm from touchdown.
