Most Gatwick departures depart out to the north and do not interfere with the RMA. There are some that do depart through the RMA and can cause problems unless the necessary co-ordination is initiated. These departures will usually not be climbed above 6000ft until outside of the RMA.
Most Gatwick departures operate on a free flow system - The tower doesn't have to call up for a release on every aircraft. There are however some Departures where the Tower has to call up FIN (or INT if FIN isn't online) and ask for a release. These are WIZAD, TIGER and BIG departures.
The choice of runway configuration will be the decision of ADC.
When on Easterly operations, SFD Departures should be transferred to FIN (or INT if FIN isn't online) after departure due to the fact that they cross over the inbound track. FIN will climb the aircraft to MSL when able, and handoff to the relevant area sector.
Pilots should note that only the final SID fix should be inserted into the flight plan. If the aircraft was planning a CLN departure, instead of entering CLN8M in the flight plan, they should only enter CLN. The actual SID will be provided by the controller, depending on the runway in use.
In the London TMA, most departures are handed straight off to the TMA area sectors. Aircraft should be transferred by ADC to the area sectors straight after departure, preferably no later than 2000ft.

Departing aircraft should report their Departure route, passing level and cleared level after Departure. To assist with Identification procedures, all departures should be instructed to "Squawk IDENT" after departure, to verify the Mode A.
