VFR

Gatwick is located in a Class D control zone, which means VFR traffic is permitted to operate in and out of Gatwick.

Aircraft inbound to Gatwick should call Gatwick Director at one of the following Visual Reference Points (VRPs) requesting permission to enter the zone:

Outbound aircraft should exit the zone via one of the VRP's. More than one aircraft can be on the same route at once, as long as they are passed traffic information.

Special VFR

Special VFR clearances for flights within the Gatwick zone may be requested and will be given whenever traffic conditions permit.

Special VFR clearances should not be granted to fixed wing aircraft if the reported visibility at the airport is less than 3km or the reported cloud ceiling is less than 1000ft.

Only one aircraft on a Special VFR clearance is permitted on each route at a time.
