Description

The Talla sector is the smallest Scottish sector, but is also the busiest. It is a low-level sector and only provides a service to aircraft operating below FL255 regardless of whether the other Scottish sectors are open.

The traffic flow is mostly Scottish TMA arrivals and departures via the South. Talla Sector provides aerodrome and approach services for EGPH, EGPF and EGPK when the relevant units are offline.

Bandboxing

Talla may be combined with Wallasey, STAFA and East sectors during periods of low traffic.

Coordination

Edinburgh (EGPH)

Edinburgh Dean's Cross, Turnberry and Talla departures will be transferred directly from Edinburgh Tower to Talla Sector, following their SID routing.

Talla Sector is responsible for the Edinburgh TWEED stack.

Inbounds should be descended to MSL + 1, or the lowest level available in the hold. Aircraft at or above FL130 will stay with Talla Sector.

Whendever possible DCS departures sould be taken off the SID and vectored towards DCS to pass approximately 10 miles north of Prestwick.

Glasgow (EGPF)

Glasgow Talla, Turnberry, Deans's Cross, and New Galloway departures will be transferred directly from Glasgow Tower to Talla Sector, following their SID routing.

Talla Sector is responsible for the Glasgow LANAK and Turnberry stacks.

Inbounds should be descended to MSL + 1, or the lowest level available in the hold. Aircraft at or above FL130 will stay with Talla Sector.

Whendever possible DCS/NGY departures sould be taken off the SID and vectored towards DCS between TLA and LANAK.

Prestwick (EGPK)

Prestwick Turnberry and New Galloway departures will be transferred to Talla Sector, following their SID routing.

Talla Sector is responsible for the Prestwick Turnberry stack. Note that this stack is also used for Glasgow arrivals and traffic will have to be separated before transferring to he appropriate radar sector.
