Frequently Asked Questions

- Why not provide individual training like other divisions do?
This method allows the training department to operate more efficiently, and ratings can therefore be achieved much more quickly. The courses are guaranteed to be comprehensive, and retaining the same instructors throughout the course ensures consistency. Plus, group lessons are great fun!

- How are the lessons structured?
Each lesson comprises a theoretical section where the instructor will review the theory of the course followed by a practical session where students apply the knowledge they learnt.

- I requested a certain course, but was assigned to another one. Why?
Each course has a defined amount of students. If the course you requested is already full you will be assigned to the next available course. If the dates don't work for you please contact the Head of Training.

- Will I have the same instructor for the whole course?
It depends, each course is assigned to two or three instructors who will mentor you though training on the live network and recommend you for your final exam. You may choose to stay with one throughout the course or switch between instructors for more frequent sessions.

- What happens if I can't attend a particular lesson?
Contact your course instructor to arrange a catch-up lesson. If you get too far behind it may be more beneficial to join the following course at the first lesson you missed.

- Who will examine me at the end of the course?
The Head of Training, his assistant, or one of our examiners. You instructor will never be your examiner.

- What about the IVAO theoretical exams?
You must complete these exams before your skills test. The IVAO exams are based on ICAO documentation and may differ slightly from our standards. Please read the IVAO Academy to prepare yourself. If you need specific assistance you may contact your instructor.

- I already obtained a C1/2/3 rating in the UK before these courses were introduced. Do I have to take cours(es) below my current rating to control?
No, your rating is valid and no requalification is required, however we strongly recommend you read through the theoretical part of all the courses to ensure you are up-to-date with the latest procedures.
